De siste dagene i Kina

Lion Feeding

Hey guys, sorry this has taken me so long to publish. But it’s time for the last post about my trip to China last August.

The last few days at the panda park were amazing, but also a bit sad since we knew we were going home soon. After the mountain trip, my feet were dead for three days. But I still had to go to work every day feeding the pandas (oh, how I miss them!). We took another trip down to Ya’an city for a change of scenery and food, and we went to the zoo and fed some tigers from a bus. We also celebrated Gladys’ birthday, with a lot of Chinese alcohol and watermelon, of course.

I was supposed to leave the panda park on Saturday afternoon and go straight to the airport for my flight home, but Stephanie (Japan) had decided to go back to Chengdu a day early to explore the city more before flying off to Tokyo. That seemed like a great plan to me, so I decided to join her. Got on the bus on Friday morning and arrived in Chengdu for lunch.

One building I had completely forgot even excited was the New Century Global Centre – the worlds largest building – which had just opened in Chengdu in July. We got in a taxi and went to find it, but since it is brand new it didn’t exist on our maps so we had a bit of trouble getting there. After asking the taxi driver, some confused police men and finally a guy working in a hotel reception, we found it. And it was an absolutely amazing sight. The building was MASSIVE, so big you won’t even believe it, and it had a cinema, a fake beach, an ice skating rink, sooo many shops and even hotels. It was unbelievable. We quickly went through most of the building and I ended up buying a Chinese Harry Potter book and a backpack.

After a few hours we took a taxi to the Jinli Night Fair – a park and shopping area in ancient Chinese style architecture. A place for hang out, street food, selling home made art and so much more. It was an amazing place to see.

For dinner we decided to go for Chinese hot pot. Hot pot is basically a pot of boiling water, half VERY spicy and half none spicy, on the table and you boil your own food in it. It was super super spicy, but it was very tasty as well.

Saturday I spent all day chilling at the hostel watching movies before catching my flight back to Norway.

And that was the end of my trip to China. I miss this amazing country so so much, and I cannot wait to move there.
